May the 4th be with you! The union held a rally outside of Ansin on May 1, at which President Pelton was in attendance. After multiple speeches, the union presented Pelton with our online petition, which has more than 1,000 signatures. Pelton has accepted the union’s invitation to attend the May 10 negotiations meeting. The union is expecting responses from management on numerous proposals, including compensation and benefits.

Here’s your weekly union update: Our next negotiations meeting is April 26 and we’re planning on discussing compensation (pay), benefits, job review (as in a structured review of job duties), and performance evaluations. Various groups are working on proposals to present at that meeting. Also, since publishing our February newsletter, we’ve TA’d on the sick bank and reductions in force and recall proposals.
